The scope fence
Lingos, Happy Tutor, the lesson co-pilot and the classroom co-teacher answer questions about the platform and about teaching or learning English — lesson ideas, phonics, grammar, classroom management, pricing, account help, tech support. They politely refuse anything else: programming, finance, medical or legal advice, other-subject homework, or “summarise this document”.
Length guard and allowances
- Messages are limited to 1,000 characters (the composer shows a live counter).
- Guests get a daily allowance; members get plan-based allowances and burst limits. If you hit a limit you can always hand off to a human.
- Refused requests are logged by topic and length only, so we can tune the fence — the text itself is not analysed further.
Why? Every request costs real AI credits. The fence keeps the assistant fast and affordable for teachers instead of becoming a free general-purpose chatbot.
