How it works
- Turn on captions for a video tile (CC button). Words from the lesson's vocabulary appear in amber.
- Words matching the student's active Focus Areas — phonics digraphs and blends, 3+ syllable words, tricky spelling, verb forms, long words to decode, th/r/l sounds, question words — are underlined in green with a tooltip explaining why.
- Open the Live Transcript panel to see the Smart Captions block: toggle focus areas on or off during class and see the target-word list.
Where the Focus Areas come from
Parents set them in the Student Growth Profile (birthday, focus areas, interests). The same profile feeds The Forge and the Interactive Studio as hard constraints, and appears on your student detail page as “Parent Priorities”.
Only you (the teacher) see the highlighting — students see plain captions.
